Following Prof. Collcutt’s talk of Japanese tea history, we presented tea demonstration
and served tea to participants.

After enjoying tea & sakuramochi(桜餅)-traditional sweets wrapped by cherry leaves) and chirashi lunch,
we played Hyakuninissu (百人一首).

ハイネケン社中の初釜を１／２６（土）に行った。親しい御茶仲間も参加して下さった。濃茶席の後、メンバー手製の点心をいただき、数茶スタイルで、楽しく薄茶を頂いた。主菓子も、メンバー手製”常磐饅頭”、若松色の餡があざやかであった。

はじめて、炭手前を入れた茶事をやってみた。
懐石、初炭、中立、濃茶、薄茶と、無事に終えた。

ハイネケン社中が薄茶席を担当。和やかな茶会であった。

I could not believe the existence of the Rinzai Zen Temple on top of a hill after hard driving. We were generously allowed to attend a morning service and breakfast.
I deeply appreciated my new experience of the origin of Tea ceremony “kaiseki 懐石”. Perfectly well taken cared garden and compound.

From San Francisco, up to Prairie Creek Redwoods National Park. Driving along coast, Camping & Hiking. World’s tallest living trees, only less 5% of the original old growth redwoods stand, due to logging since mid 19th century. Most live an average of 500 to 700, some 2000 years. Beautiful trees. You surely feel spirits of old trees.

After so many years, Ty & I decided to reunite with our Japanese friends and visit a few  interesting places.

表千家春季市民茶会として、市民の方は、広間での薄茶席２席、枡床席での濃茶席２席を楽しまれ、いずれも満席であった。
暖冬だったので、庭の紅白のツツジもすでに満開で、訪れた人は、日本庭園の美しさを堪能していた。
